Have questions about "AA?"
What is “AA” baseball?
Different from recreational “House” program baseball where the focus is fun through playing games in the months of May and June, AA baseball focuses on development and competitive calibre baseball that starts in April and goes until the end of July culminating in a provincial championship weekend.
AA Baseball is for Mosquito - Midget levels of baseball
Practices: 2 - 3 times per week, usually Monday - Thursday
League games: Every second weekend. Each game weekend consists of 3 games, typically 2 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday.
Exhibition games and tournaments will be played on “off” weekends when no league games are scheduled.
League games are played throughout the province. There will be weekends where travel will not be required depending on the host team for each particular weekend.
Is “AA” Baseball for us?
If your child has a passion for baseball and is looking to get more out of this great outdoor game than what traditional “House” baseball can offer then “AA” baseball should be an option for you. Tryouts will be held in March that will allow our teams to be formed.
Much like the AA level of other sports, AA baseball is a commitment.
Time - As communicate above, compared to a traditional “House” or “Rec” team, AA players will be on the diamond anywhere from 4 - 5 days a week.
Financially - In order to help offset the costs of additional diamond time, player and team fees, umpire fees, tournaments, development, etc. player costs are higher for the AA program.
Through this commitment players will see a significant increase in the development of their baseball skills and continue to grow their passion for the game.
The following is the link for AA calendar from the Baseball Alberta website that indicates what which weekends each age group will have league games on.
